Yadkin County, bordered by the Yadkin River on its eastern and northern boundaries, abounds in rolling farmland worthy of a picture post-card. Located at the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains and part of the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area, the county is home to a variety of North Carolina heritage music and dance. Bluegrass and gospel are particularly prevalent, and old-time stringband and country music also abound. Local and regional musicians perform at jams, festivals, and music conventions in various settings, including community centers, school auditoriums, parks, restaurants, and downtown streets.
