in downtown Boonville, 232
East Main Street.
From Winston-Salem,
travel west on US 421 to US 601. Go north, traveling through
Yadkinville. Boonville is 10 miles from US 601 exit. In downtown Boonville, turn right at
the stoplight onto NC 67 east.
The school is ¼ mile on the right.
Alternative route from Winston-Salem: Travel on Reynolda
Road going northeast. It will become NC 67. After
you’ve entered Yadkin County, you will travel approximately 16
miles before you get to Boonville, first passing through the town of East Bend. The Boonville Elementary
School will be on the left on East Main St.

Description of
Event: Friday night
usually features a cruise-in with vintage cars and live entertainment
beginning at 8:00pm. Saturday
begins with a parade with an assortment of floats, fire trucks, four-wheelers,
horses, etc. The rest of the
day’s festivities feature a variety of food and craft vendors, as
well as rides and activities for kids. There is a variety of music that
from year to year can include bluegrass, jazz, gospel, country, and
beach music. Local groups
perform on the music stage during the day Saturday beginning at 1:00pm,
and advertised scheduled bands perform Friday and Saturday nights. A
cake walk with prizes usually occurs on Saturday night.
History of
Site/Event: The festival
began in 1995 to mark the town’s
centennial. It was such a
success that it became an annual event.
Description of
Site/Facility: The event takes place on the playing fields of Boonville Elementary School located in
downtown Boonville. Boonville is
a quintessential small country town with charm and history. The town has historic homes,
country-cooking restaurants, a hardware store, local grocery and other
assorted establishments.
Significance of
Site/Event to the Community: This is a longstanding event in
Boonville that brings the community together to celebrate its
heritage. Proceeds go primarily
to the town and are used for such projects as flag poles for the town
center, Christmas lights for downtown, and contributions to the local
library
