History of Site/Event:

Bikestock originated in 2004 as a way to celebrate the areas’ beauty as a cycling destination and as a musical hot bed.

Description of Site/Facility:

The Blackmon Amphitheater is a new facility in the heart of Mount Airy that is utilized for outdoor theater and music events.

Significance of Site/Event to the Community:

The event combines two complementary elements of the region’s natural beauty and culture--biking and music--in the heart of the emerging Yadkin Valley wine country.  Involving locals and visitors alike, Bikestock provides a day of healthy fun while raising money for a local charity.
