The Amphitheater is across the street from the playhouse. It is
also behind the public library and the municipal building.
Cost:
$20 for Saturday music only. $10
for Friday night music. $50 for music and ride. $35 for bike only.
Parking:
For
Blackmom Amphitheater, free
parking at Andy Griffith playhouse, two municipal lots and two church
lots nearby. Parking adequate for bus tours. Parking also available at
Veteran’s Park.
Special Needs Access: Venue is fully accessible.

of Event:
Music is Friday evening and Saturday later afternoon and evening in
downtown Mount Airy at the Blackmom Amphitheater and the ride begins
early Saturday morning from the amphitheater parking lot. Bike routes vary in length and challenge. The music
portion of Bikestock is a way for bicycle riders and nonriders alike to
celebrate a day in the heart of
North Carolina
’s Wine Country. Hundreds
of riders and more nonriders have enjoyed local musicians such as Jimmy
Vipperman and Mood Cultivation Project and national acts such as
Acoustic Syndicate, Tony Rice, John Cowan, and Candlewyck.
History of Site/Event:
Bikestock
originated in 2004 as a way to celebrate the areas’ beauty as a
cycling destination and as a musical hot bed.

of Site/Facility:
The
Blackmon Amphitheater is a new facility in the heart of
Mount
Airy
that is utilized for outdoor theater and music events.
Significance of Site/Event to the Community:
The
event combines two complementary elements of the region’s natural
beauty and culture--biking and music--in the heart of the emerging
Yadkin
Valley
wine country. Involving locals and visitors alike, Bikestock
provides a day of healthy fun while raising money for a local charity.
