Description of Event: The musicians
are from the region and represent a balance of southern
and urban gospel (African American), praise and worship
music, acoustic, contemporary and Christian rock.
Approximately half of the performances fall into the
Southern, urban, or traditional praise and worship
categories.
History of Event: Music performances
at the Master's Loft began in the mid 1990s.
Description/History of Site: The
performances take place in the Café at the
back of the Master's Loft Bookstore where about 40
people can be seated.
Significance of Site/Event to the Community:
Soon after the weekend performances were introduced,
the staff began leaving an open book in the Café
for people to record their reactions, suggestions,
and comments. The journal now has many accounts of
the ways the concerts have touched lives, comforted
people, or opened their eyes to other ways of looking
at faith or faith-based music. The performances bring
together people of all ages and walks of life.
