Winston-Salem summer music series featuring national
and local jazz musicians, presented outdoors during
the summer months. Mini-festival atmosphere.
Location: Corpening Plaza at 1st
St. between Liberty and Cherry Streets.
Public Access: Free.
Parking: Free parking available on
the streets and in downtown parking lots. Parking
adequate for bus tours.
Special Needs Access: Venue is fully
accessible.
Signage: Signs at location, but not
en route.

Description of
Event: The series showcases national and
local acts. People of all ages bring their lawn
chairs to listen to the music. Food and drinks are
available.
History of Event:
The popular Friday night jazz event began
in 1998 as part of the city's downtown
revitalization program. The event was moved to
Corpening Plaza in 2008.

series takes place in the heart of downtown, and the
scene is a lively one.
Significance of Site/Event to the Community:
The event draws a large and ethnically
diverse crowd of families, singles, senior citizens,
locals and visitors. This mix creates a dynamic
community atmosphere.
