gospel music, African rhythms and beats. Part of the
MLK Jr. festivities in Davidson County.

Description of Event: The music at the liturgical
dance concert features traditional gospel, as well
as African drums and rhythms. A number of different
liturgical dance groups perform, with two anchor groups.
Past years have featured the NC Central University
Liturgical Dancers from Durham and the E. Gwen Dancers
from NC A&T in Greensboro.
History of Site/Event: The event began in
2001.
Description of Site/Facility: The
Brinkley Gymnasium at Davidson Community College provides an attractive setting
with plenty of seating for a variety of events
Significance of Site/Event to the Community:
According to Dr. Jackson, the event's significance
is "bringing churches across the Triad together for
fellowship and support of the young people's ministry
of dance."
